T & Cs

Your Expectations

Everyone is different, and as a result, everyone’s individual lesson will be different. Your lessons will be suited to your interests, your goals and your skill level. By doing it this way, you’ll find the lessons more enjoyable and you’ll find greater motivation to stay committed. Maybe you are looking to become a professional, or maybe you’re just looking to have some fun with the guitar. Either way, you’ll get personalized lessons to help you achieve your goals.

If you’re willing to put a fair amount of effort into this, you can expect to learn a lot! I have a lot of time and patience for people that really try and want to improve! My promise to you is, “If you do the work I ask of you, you will be given every opportunity to succeed!” On the other hand, if very little effort is shown on a consistent basis, then you probably won’t get my best efforts.

First Guitar Lesson

The first lesson you receive will be a normal hour, but will include a conversation to determine some goals and objectives. If you decide I am the right fit for you as a teacher (and vice versa), then we will schedule regular lessons going forward. During this first lesson you’ll need to bring your guitar, and you’ll have an opportunity to ask any questions that you may have.

  1. All lessons will be for a maximum of 1 hour, based on my availability and your preferences. (This will be determined during our first visit)
  2. Punctuality is very important.  Please call if you are going to be more than 5 minutes late.  If you are late for a lesson, that is time that you will forfeit. This time will not be rescheduled, and no refund will be given. Showing up for your lesson 5 minutes early is acceptable but you may be asked to wait, as other lessons may be taking place.
  3. Prices are based on the website at the date of purchase and will be written on the contract. Payments for lessons are to be made in full at the end of the first lesson of each new batch of lessons. Lessons paid for in cash, bank transfer or bankers draft. Cheques, PayPal and card payments are not available. Receipts will be given.
  4. In the event that a lesson must be cancelled or rearranged; 24 hours notice is required. If a lesson is cancelled within 24 hours, or if you fail to show up for your scheduled lesson, you will be charged for the lesson’s cost.
  5. If at any time during the package of lessons you should decide to cancel your lessons, you will be given a refund of your remaining balance, minus a £20 early termination fee.
  6. If you purchased 5 or 10 lessons and you qualified for a discount, perhaps because you were coming to my home, or taking off-peak lessons, then this assumes you will meet the criteria for the discount on every lesson. If you are unable to meet the criteria for any of those package lessons, you will need to pay the additional fee for that lesson.
  7. Students must have their own guitar. If you require a particular item, I can help you purchase this item.
  8. For lessons at my home, students must provide their own transportation to and from lessons.
  9. Students may be given a homework assignment at the end of a lesson. Each student will be expected to complete their assignment prior to their next lesson. I am available by email or telephone in the event that a student should require help.
  10. My availability is subject to change, and my time will be given on a first come, first serve basis.  If I need to change a lesson time once we’ve determined your schedule, you will be given a minimum of 48 hours notice, with options for rescheduling.
